I bought my first Airfix model from Woolworths, Reading in the early Sixties. It was the old SR.53 kit, I built it and I was hooked. As often as my pocket money allowed, I bought another but I never accumulated a stash as once I got home I started building them.

About 1970 I discovered IPMS and started attending the monthly meetings in Reading. Then University came along and whilst I still built the occasional model, my model building declined.

Then in 1978 I discovered the newly opened Aviation Hobby Shop in West Drayton and my interests were rekindled.

I have stuck in the main with 1/72 scale throughout my life, but I do enjoy building the occasional 1/32 kit. Converting kits is my favourite thing and I’m never happier than when I have a new kit in one hand and a razor saw and Milliput in the other.
